Dakhla is relaxed town of low, whitewashed buildings based on a narrow peninsula on the Atlantic coast. Established in 1844 by Spanish colonists, it is a centre for fishing and home to Morocco’s largest fishing fleet. Dakhla is also famous for its surf – kite or wind – and with excellent waves and a good sea breeze, it has also become a centre for water sports.
